Our Consumers

Did you know that 90% of older people are not getting the nutrition they need?

Malnutrition is a serious problem that affects many older people – often including many where the signs are not obvious. Even older people who are at a healthy weight could often benefit hugely from the extra nutrition our Pure Foods can provide.

Let us introduce you to three people in aged care and how our nutritious food is helping to improve their health and quality of life.

Meet Tom

Meet Tom,

Tom is 79 years old and lives at a rest home. He has a swallowing difficulty (dysphagia) and has lost a large amount of weight over the last six months. Tom gets sick regularly and needs assistance with all his day to day activities, from eating to moving from A to B. Tom is showing some typical signs of someone who is malnourished.

There are many others just like Tom. A recent nutrition study in New Zealand showed that almost half (47%) of older adults recently admitted to an aged care facility were malnourished.

It's time for this to stop, and we are here to help. Our delicious pureed foods are safe and easy to eat for Tom and people like him. The added nutrition ensure he gets the energy and protein he needs to put on and maintain weight. Plus the vibrant colours and great taste will help to restore Tom's appetite.
